I did a ton of searching on this subject yesterday and this problems seems to affect a very large percentage of the cars that use this transmission. My searching however did not turn up an actual solution for this problem. Is there a solution? Is the 0740 TCC slippage code really indicative of a problem? My car constantly throws the code and yet it seems to drive perfectly 99.9% of the time. My question is: Has anyone 100% successfully fixed a car that constantly throws 0740 codes, and if so, what was the fix? Thanks, Chris.

It is a problem. The TCC is worn and slipping. If you let it go too far you will send shrapnel into the rest of the tranny. You need to get INPA and look at the trans computer.

It will tell you if any other clutches are slipping. If it's only the TCC then replace the TC. Transtar has good rebuilds. And a 3 year warranty.

Richard EDT: note I have not done the replacement on my car yet (been busy) so I can not 100% confirm that this works but I am confident. I plan on rebuilding the Valve body too while I am in there. EDT2: also note that Transtar has no cores for the v12. You will have to drop your tranny and send in your TC (2 weeks) and they send it back.

IIRC the part number is BMW80. No offense, Darkstar, but you are just repeating the conventional 'wisdom' that I spent an hour reading here yesterday. Do you know of anyone who ruined a transmission by letting the TCC 'problem' go on too long? My car has put up 0740 codes since I bought it 50000 miles ago and the trans works exactly the same as it did when I bought it.

Guess what, it already has a bright blue torque converter installed by the previous owner. What do I infer from that? My suspicion is that if I were to follow your advice, absolutely nothing would change or at best I'd be installing a TC which I could expect to last less than 50K miles. Again, no offense and I appreciate the info, but I am looking for a real, 100% confirmable solution to this problem. Thanks, Chris. Sai baba aarti telugu mp3 songs free download. Thanks, Chris Well. Based on my research I read (on a few forums) that many people who let it go ended up having to replace their transmission. Now I may be making a jump, but it makes sense. I will admit I am also using conventional wisdom as well for justification. I plan on doing mine in the next couple of months so maybe we'll see. Richard EDT: oh yea.

No offense taken. Just because I am very sure I am right.

Doesn't mean I am:). It's a good question. From the records I have on mine ( 12/99 prod date ) The Dealer looked at in April 2009, at about 124k. I now have 136400 on it.

This car went from CT to FL and back in April. The error NEVER triggered on the highway. The diagnostics say that it is the solinoids in the valve body. I have no drivability issues at all.
